29th June 2008

Okay, we planned to visit the Singapore National Museum today after I finished teaching my lovely students at Mendaki, but after dropping off at Dhoby Ghaut, our planned changed. The blame goes to me of course! My tummy grumbled. I had the sudden craving for Seoul Garden’s “Do it yourself” Buffet and as we all know, at a buffet, we won’t be leaving the place less than 2 hours. Lol!

Nice Singaporeans Exist

June 26th, 2008 Posted in Moments, People, Singapore | No Comments »

I’ve always thought that Singaporeans are the type that can’t be bothered about the well being of others but I was proven wrong today. I wasn’t aware of a small hole in the left pocket of my trousers and aparrently coins had been dropping out of it almost every minute or so eversince I was standing on the bus service 285 as I was on the way to work.

There was a very well dressed middle aged man that picked up the coins around me and tapped on my shoulder and gave them to me and told me of my hole in the pocket. Well I was kinda embarrased but I would have done the same thing too.

I would imagine that typical Singaporeans would pretend not to see the money around me and when I finally move off from the spot I was standing at, they will pick the coins up, keep it for themselves, go over to the canteen with a huge smile on their face and get themselves a cup of coffee or tea before heading to their office and thinking how lucky they were to have gotten a free drink early in the morning.

Anyhow, I am happy to have bumped into a nice Singaporean today.

Looking forward for a good day,

Deen Yusoff

Get Smart made my day :)

June 24th, 2008 Posted in Review | 4 Comments »

It has been quite sometime since I watched a good comedy at the cinema and I read many reviews online on how disappointing this “Get Smart” movie was but I beg to differ. I enjoyed the show though I prefer Jim Carrey’s “Liar Liar” and “Bruce Almighty” better.

Get Smart - Steve Carell

Steve Carrell did a great job as Maxwell Smart and Anne Hathaway (Agent 99) is just hot.  It is more of a situational comedy then scripted comedy so don’t expect brilliant jokes from the guy’s mouth. Steve Carrell is a good enough reason to watch the show as I personally think that he pulled it off quite well.

Well, I am not gonna tell you guys the story here. Go watch it yourself. :D

Had a good laugh,

Artsy Futsy

June 23rd, 2008 Posted in Moments, Sights, Singapore | 6 Comments »

20th June 2008.

A day of Artsy Futsy fun. After 3 days of wait just to spend a day together, we decided to go to a museum. Well…it was my idea actually. Unwillingly she agreed, just to make me happy. I just wanted to go because I get to visit the Museums for free! ;D NUS bought unlimited entries for the Students to a few of the Museums in Singapore till end of April 2009. Wonderful isn’t it!So we met up and visited the nearest museum to Raffles Place SMRT station right after the Muslims’ Sabbath (Most of you would know it better as Muslim Friday Prayers. *ZIPS*).
Well anyway, we paid a visit to the Asian Civilisations Musuem. It looks great on the net and seems to have a lot of things to see inside. We started off with the Austronesian (South East Asian) history, moved up to Chinese, then to the Western Asia and finally ended with Indian Subcontinent. Somehow the cultures of Austronesian’s were presented to be adaptations of Indians and Arabs and nothing much were their own origins. I was hoping to see the native Animism and evidences to prove of their native culture before seeing the presentations of adapted Indian culture and lifestyle but I was disappointed in this section.

Just a Hypocrite?

May 25th, 2008 Posted in Freaky, Moments | 3 Comments »

** Warning! For those that do not like Reality Shows, don’t bother reading this post. It might get TOO BORING/ANNOYING for you. :)**

Over the last month, I got to see a crazy phase in the life of a friend of mine. He has gotten himself into a deep pile of shit which was covered with fresh blossoms and roses. His current life reminds me of some of the things which I almost forgot about. I was reminded about how this world is full of hypocrites, egoists, psychos and bitches. I would like to list a few characters in this Reality Show for all of you to get a clearer picture of what I am blabbering about now.

My summer job reminds me of my NS days somehow..

May 23rd, 2008 Posted in Moments | 1 Comment »

Little did I expect for my summer job to have the slightest similarities to my National Service vocation. The only difference is that I am actually doing shift work now, something that most of us scattered away from.

Truck flipped at the spiral turn of AYE exit near Clementi…

May 15th, 2008 Posted in Freaky, Moments, Singapore | 2 Comments »

I was on the way to West Coast in the cab with Iswandi earlier today when we had a bird’s eye view at an over-turned truck at the spiral turn of AYE exit near clementi. Crazy ****! Had never seen such a thing before…Centrifugal force in action!

Rising International Population in Singapore!

May 12th, 2008 Posted in People, Politic, Singapore | No Comments »

Did you guys read the news recently? The International Schools in Singapore ran out of seats to house the Expats children! Wonderful isn’t it. As time goes by we will recreate the face of Singapore yet again.  Read it here.

Previously, Chinese and Indians caused this problem in Singapore. Now a different group of races are repeating the process. Currently the 3 main races (Malays, Chinese and Indians) are considered as natives but with the growing population of foreigners, I won’t be surprised if Singapore’s government is to say that everyone living on Singapore’s ground are Singaporeans. That way, there will be peace among all the residences of Singapore.

I’ve heard so many local White kids ending their sentences with “la”, “mah” and “sial” at Orchard Cineleisure. Besides their skin and accent which is not as strong anymore, they are already becoming very much like any other Singaporean teen.

Thinking of the future,
