Finally downloaded the new Windows Live Messenger 8.5. Seen it on my sister’s notebook since she got her new Packard Bell notebook but didn’t get the urge to upgrade as I thought it was a special edition for Windows Vista. Lol! Little did I know that it is available for all. :D Also, I didn’t feel the need to upgrade since I didn’t hear any great new features about it. Yet, I feel glad that I listened to my dearest Ms Siti Sahidah and upgraded it. ;)

Firstly, it looks better than before! :D It has that Vista feel and I love it! As I am still using XP on my Fujitsu notebook, any thing that has a better sense of colour is greatly appreciated. Yeah yeah I’ve heard it a thousand times. It is a copy of Mac OS. So what? What matters to me is it looks good. Of course I really hope Microsoft can copy the efficiency of Mac OS too. =x Either that or Microsoft should deploy a group of elite virus writers to attack Mac OS’s loopholes and find all its vulnerabilities. Then we can see who is more efficient at safe guarding the OS after many security patches. We then can compare you loads faster into its Graphical User Interface. :D…

Happily doing my school work at the wonderful forum when there was a sudden blast of Line dance music. Almost blew my brains out…You don’t even know where the crowd came from. It is like a blood rush when you a person gets excited.

Well since I couldn’t concentrate on my work, I decided to snap a pic of the dancers. They weren’t in sync but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Well…guess everything is fun when you do it with a certain group of people. Here’s how they looked like….

In-fusion Line dance.

Time is money. I am sure, for most of you, this is not the first time you are hearing this. This is a big issue for me. I want to do so many things but I am fighting for time. Too many commitments. If only I don’t need to sleep. Then I could do things in that 8 long hours.

I’ve once argued with a guy, shall not mention his name here, about how multi-tasking affects work output. The fella mentioned how he could multi-task doing all the things without any worry. The things he says he does:

  1. Web Design
  2. Programming
  3. Photo shoots
  4. Photo Edit
  5. Filming
  6. Video Edit
  7. 3D Modeling
  8. Socialize.
  9. Daily routine activities.

I honestly think this guy was just crap. He said he does his web design while filming and taking pictures. It is just total bullshit to me. How is that possible? I argued, even if he does so, it is gonna be crap output. As humans we are only given 1 pair of hands. How does he snap a photo while designing on his notebook? Where will his eyes focus at? The pinhole on his still camera, camcorder or his laptop screen? This fella is just crap to me.

But as crappy as he is, he managed to steal 30 mins of my time to argue with him. Well enough about him. This is suppose to be about me. I don’t have enough time to clear all the things that I want/need to do.

I have too many commitments I guess… school, a job, entrepreneurial work, relationships (including family and friends). I don’t have time to manage all… sometimes I feel like isolating myself from everyone just to clear my school and entrepreneurial work. Yes, it is that important to me. Now I realize that I can’t achieve big things without “hurting” or letting down the people around me.

I hope someday, everyone will understand what I am going through. Everyone needs the space and support to achieve their dreams. Instead what I get are complaint about me not spending enough time with everybody. I don’t wish to work for the rest of my life receiving SGD2.5K every month till I die. I wish to be a millionaire by the age of 30.

Probably many of you are saying, “Yah right, dream on Deen!”. Well, call me a dreamer. It takes a man to imagine big stuffs I would say. If Michael Dell could make Billions I don’t understand why I can’t dream of Millions. For those in my position, you’ll know exactly how I feel. Well, hope I could make it big someday soon…

Ok this is kinda freaky. Man on Mars?! What do you guys think? Is that really a man? I really wonder how that man could survive without food, water and a woman!!!Let’s try to come out with a logical reasoning for that clip… I came out with a few ideas of my own. Here are my thoughts.

  1. NASA faked the whole thing. They could have gotten the Astronauts to put a figure there and take a picture from a distance.
Why? They probably did so because they needed some fame since they’ve been having lots of expeditions and research done but have yet to show any form of result. Nor are they showing that what they are doing is something good for human kind. They probably also fear that Asia might take over them soon since China and even Malaysia are now having their own space expeditions.
  2. It was just a rock?
  3. It was a fossilized creature that was also made from the image of GOD? Probably from their most recent “Ice age” or when the big asteroid hit Mars?
  4. NASA accidentally took a picture of the Gobi desert instead of Mars.

Oh well, I don’t know how it works but I have a strong feeling that my point number 1 is the most probable reason. What do you think?

Ok, this really pisses me off. I should not have ran Sony Ericsson’s Update Service. The thought of keeping up with times should not have crossed my mind at all coz now, it had destroyed one of my favourite funtions in P1i!

Business Card Scanner doesn’t work as it used to. Now it scans ONLY in  Macro, Black and White! What the F! Not ony does it take a picture in Greyscale, when I browse for a picture I had taken in colour using the camera function, the Business Card Scanner converts the picture into black and white and then reads it. I can’t change the mode into anything else.! No, none of it works. Negative, Sephia, Solarization and default None doesn’t work! What the hell is wrong? It was working fine in colour before the service update!

Whats the point of taking a picture of a Coloured Name Card when the phone saves it as Black and White? Sony Ericsson developers! I hope you hear me. Now I feel lost with my phone…it is like walking around in Laced Shoes without the laces…

My rating of Sony Ericsson’s Software just dropped to 2 out of 10! It works but not working the way it should be!

I am so upset over Sony Ericsson’s PC suite for SmartPhone. Every since I used it, I realised that Sony Ericsson needs to employ better developers. I’ve had Sony Ericsson’s P1i for a couple of months now and honestly the phone is great.

I used to carry 3 items (iPod, HP IPaq and W810i) around with me all the time. Now, I have a 2GB memory stick on my P1i which has every almost every function those items have. In fact now I have a QWERTY pad along with me all the time. :D

Well besides having to carry one instead of three, I have a built-in function called the Business Card Scanner. It is honestly a great function. It works like my Flatbed Scanner with the OCR but instead, I have to take a picture of the Business Cards I want the system to add to my contacts.

Well everything was perfect until I decided to upgrade my software. So I did these following steps:

  1. Installed Sony Ericsson PC Suite for Smartphone, which was included in the box.
  2. Downloaded and installed the Sony Ericsson P1i Update Service software.
  3. Used the Backup Manager that came along with SE PC Suite to backup every single content of my phone.
  4. Ran Update Service following the steps provided in the software.
  5. Lastly tried to Restore my backup onto my phone.

Guess what? It didn’t work!!! Ran a full backup and the PC Suite froze at like the 30th percent with a message “Mobile phone not responding….”. I selected all these to restore:

  1. Contacts
  2. Calendar
  3. Notes
  4. Unified Inbox
  5. Settings
  6. Multimedia
  7. 3rd Party Applications

Bull Poop!!! I tried to run it 3 times and still didn’t work. When did the phone stop responding? When the PC Suite rebooted the phone and P1i screen prints “Restore in progress”. Its a piece of shit I tell you.
I googled in hope that someone would shed light on me. That was when I discovered previous versions of Sony Ericsson SmartPhones had a similar problem too. In case you are wondering, the phone models I am talking about are SE’s P990i and M600i and their variations. I am so bloody disappointed. I can’t believe it could hang on me when I feel the phone had been great all the time.

Well now comes to the shitty part of trouble shooting. I can’t possibly let go of my backups. I’ve already lost all my Contacts and stuff 2 months ago. Can’t let this happen again. So I tried to restore one item at a time.

I went down the list of priorities as such:

  1. Contacts - Success!
  2. Calendar - Success!
  3. Notes - Success!
  4. Unified Inbox - Success!
  5. Settings - Success!
  6. Multimedia - Success!
  7. 3rd Party Applications - Success!

Wierd isn’t it? It works when you try to restore one item at a time but not when you select all. How can this be? Software problem!!! Developers at Sony should look into this. I didn’t have this problem with Nokia E65 when I helped my brother do an upgrade.

What’s the point of having a full restore function when it doesn’t work??? And if the problem had been surfaced by the users of the previous models, why isn’t the problem solved still? Can’t possibly blame Symbian for Sony Ericsson’s PC Suite, could we?…

Whether you need a task to be done or you want to earn some cash for yourself, you can get linked easily! No doubt there are hundreds of sites you can post your work. I started off with my school’s very own, Nineo.Com.

What other sites are there? Here is a guide for both freelancers and Outsourcers.

I’ll sum up a simple way for you to get your work done. A good list of directories for you to post or look for a job can be found at the well known Yahoo! directory. If you are strictly looking for the Singapore market, Yahoo! Singapore.

As for a rising site I would suggest the following as they are willing to advertise and market themselves. :D

I had been using CPanel for the past 6 years and had seen many face-lifts done on each upgrade. I would definitely say that CPanel had been great all these years though it took quite sometime to load. And loading time really pisses me when I have to wait for more than 2 minutes to view my DNS stuffs!

And you’ve guessed it! I Googled to look for a better Platform! :D But I was let down for I did not find any solid answers. Directadmin (DA) seemed to be a hot favourite to many which kinda surprised me as I always thought that CPanel’s only competitor is Plesk.

Well, I didn’t want to spend so much money on a panel so I decided to look for an Open Source Platform. Then I found out about LxAdmin. From the creators of HyperVM.

Well enough said. I tried the demo for DirectAdmin and just like the reviews, it looks good and does what it is suppose to do. However, i feel that it wasn’t as feature rich as CPanel.

So since LxLabs boasted many wonderful features on LxAdmin and that it saves the most memory compared with other panels, I decided to give it a shot. Honestly, I feel that it needs a major face lift. It doesn’t look good at all. The tabs reminds me of my school project that I did in the year 1999! But it serves its purpose.

LxAdmin has all the features that I need and the best part is it comes with a built in “One Click Install” feature called ‘InstallApp’. For CPanel users, you would be familiar with the term Fantastico. But what I like most about LxAdmin is that, now I don’t need to mess my config files anymore. Everything can be done via the panel. Here is a glimpse of what you will see in LxAdmin.

Lxadmin Scripting feature
There are many other features that you can’t see from this image, but it shows you the InstallApp and a couple of the config options. :) Rewrite rule can be added for the domain easily too!!!

Convenience is there. I took quite a while to get familiar with LxAdmin but hey it’s not their fault that I was using CPanel for years. I like LxAdmin though it still is not perfected. Since it is free and the support forum seems to be quite efficient, I believe that LxAdmin may have a shot on taking over CPanel sometime in the near future. :D

Can’t believe this. First I hurt my right shoulder when I took my IPPT…now I got a bad sprain on my ankle when I was playing soccer! Been so long since I worked out I guess that every time I attempt to do so, I end up hurting myself in some way.

The worst part of it all is tomorrow is my first day of the semester. Aaarrrgghhh!!! How the hell am I gonna walk around school now? Gotta visit the doctor I guess. Need a quick heal but I doubt I’ll get that… :(

Jan 10

Been 5 days straight since I started with setting up my own email server. I would have used Windows if it was totally free… Linux is definitely not for Windows home users. I had everything set up. But mails couldn’t go through to hotmail. Found out that I need a PTR record or a Reverse DNS as well as an SPF record.

Tech jargons right? Who the hell understands all that without doing any studying?! I actually got a couple of books from the library on Red Hat Linux and DNS administration. And so it all seemed to work out fine. But it didn’t! Everytime I fix one error, another error pops up. How irritating can it be??! Haiz…Once I’ve set it up well, I think I can make my own guide and put it up online for those that might have been in my position.

=sigh=
