Ah Meng is dead… May she R.I.P…

If you are a Singaporean, you would have probably heard about the ever famous Singapore Zoo icon, Ah Meng. I remember growing up hearing about Ah Meng and had even visited her at the Zoo many times. The ever famous primate that I know of other than Bubbles (The chimp that lived with Michael Jackson for many years.)

Today however, is a sad day for Singapore. Our dear Ah Meng had just passed away. She died at the age of 48 human years. She died out of old age and Singapore’s Zoological Gardens will be holding a memorial service for her this coming Sunday at 11am.

This is so sad lah. :( I remembered when I was younger, I took a Polaroid photo with Ah Meng at the Zoo and in that photo, I was crying. Damn, I was so hopeless. I was scared of Ah Meng at that point of time but my parents insisted me to take a photo with her. Sigh.

Yeah…I think I have one of those Polaroid pictures with Ah Meng too. It must be decomposing nicely somewhere in one of my forgotten photo albums…. =x

Awww…that’s really sad. How long do they normally live, in terms of human years?

famous darls; I got to know of this tragic news on Channel News Asia on the very day it happened. =x

Linda; Well if I still remember well, Orangutan’s lifespan is about 35-40 years if they are in the wild. For those in the care of men, they can live to even more than 50 years old. Now these animals enjoy good free food and health care too. :D They just have to walk around their territory pretending to be wild.
