Asian Themeparks?

Disneyland and Universal Studios in Asia???

Not being prejudiced against the American Franchise but I personally think Whites won’t be all that hyped up in Universal Studios or Disneyland in Asia even with their Asian theme. Where’s the spice in that? And it just killed my dreams of taking a flight all the way to the other side of the world to see something that we don’t have! Now, I’d be comparing the 2 theme parks instead of being amazed with just one.

I love the idea of a theme park here honestly, but why not be a little different? Like an Anime theme park. Get a consortium of all Asian fiction companies and make a huge ass theme park out of this world. Make it so different that the people from the other side of the world would visit Singapore just to let their kids poke on Pokemon or something? It seems to me that the other side of the world are already in love with Asian cartoons for quite sometime now…

Yeah yeah, I know, they gave it to the highest bidder or whoever proposed to them and no Asian Anime Consortium came up to them with a proposal that was out of this world. I’ve posted this, and I can’t patent an idea, but I am sure someday even in a distant future, there will be an Asian that decides to make this come true. I would love to do that if I get an opportunity though. And yes Indians, Arabs or even the Hebrews are Asians too.

But if the future is bleak…. it might turn out to be a “Fun-filled” Hentai Themepark that replaces the ancient Red Light Districts especially the infamous Amsterdam as maybe the people of the future would want more alternative lifestyle. I hope not though…

Summer Break 2009

Deen looking very Indian...

It has been ages since I published anything on my blog and now I have loads of stories to tell.

2009 has been a great year for me. Although it began with a heart ache, the year has been kind to me in ways more than one. I’ve created bonds, conquered a mountain, visited the other side of the world and had experienced life in a way that will be very difficult to forge again.

Euro Trip with my best buddies was an event that will be reminisced till I grow old and lose all my teeth. A life story that might one day, entice my grand kids to have dreams of travelling all over the world and experience life and culture in a very different way.

Sofian must be thinking of home...

Summer has also left a print that I least expected. I joined a summer programme in NUS called “Asia Now!” just to earn module credits and didn’t really expect anything much from it but instead I’ve made good friends from all over the world that will definitely be missed and enjoyed an eye opening course titled Asia.Com.

Well 2009 has not ended yet but summer has. Term will commence again in week’s time and life will return to be boring and mundane again but I guess I need it to be that way so that I could concentrate on my course for I am due to graduate in less than a year.

Well these are the highlights of my summer break and it has already come to an end. Wish the rest of 2009 will be great for me still and will still be looking forward to my Friday evenings.

Believe that your life is good and it will be good.

The Climb of Mount Ophir

The Summit of Mt Ophir

Four friends, all alike in dignity, in fair Melaka where we lay our scene…

Ok I shall cut that crap. My best friends and I had just conquered a mountain and it wasn’t even in our checklist for this year! Lol! Arif’s colleague randomly suggested mountain climbing and the rest of us were invited by Arif. It was an unplanned, unorganized but surprisingly it turned out quite well. :)

EARLY breakfast

The four of us took a four hour train ride on Friday evening to a place called Segamat in Johore, Malaysia, got to our resort, did the necessary preparations for the climb and tried to get an early night’s rest. We woke up to have an early breakfast as we hoped to climb up and descend from the mountain before sunset.

The Dudes

Well the first half of the climb was chicken feet until we reached KFC…Unforgettable moments for the day. I climbed almost a vertical cliff, drank mountain water when I ran out of mineral water, got cramps which caused me to slow down the pace of everybody, saved a friend while I was resting,Safety first felt like there was somebody following me when I was at the back of the team and most important of all…A priceless moment when I reached the summit with my best friends and got a birthday present from Arif behind a spectacular view. :)

Best of FriendsBirthday Present on the Top!

It was definitely a great experience and I definitely need to train myself to catch up with the army boys. Hehehe. Thanks guys for watching my back and adding flavour to my 25th birthday. :D

Euro Trip Preparation

Ok this is coming almost a month late but I am still blogging about this because I am getting very hyped up everytime I think about my euro backpackers trip. Lol!

Eurail Passes

Bought the Euro rail passes a day before valentine’s day last month for the whole gang. :D Now we only have accommodation, food and leisure to care about in Europe. It cost us S$678/- for the 15 days (2nd class – Youth) global pass but with this we will probably not take any budget flights throughout our trip. Yeah! We’ll see more of Europe though it will be a lot of time spent on traveling.

Eurail Passes

I also finally got an Antler backpack for the trip. A gift from my elder brother. :D Retail priced at $270/- but we got it close to half the price. The bag feels strong and looks sleek to me. The best part is it has a detachable pouch which turns itself to a small bag. This bag will be used by me for more backpack trips in the future I hope. Don’t want it to become a decoration in my store room after the Euro trip..

Antler BackPack

Can’t wait to visit Amsterdam!
