I love the rain. I feel happy when it rains like this and I am in a moving vehicle. It’s cold and the air just cools my heart. A great blessing to me especially when it has been like a heated oven for the past few days.

Four friends, all alike in dignity, in fair Melaka where we lay our scene…

Ok I shall cut that crap. My best friends and I had just conquered a mountain and it wasn’t even in our checklist for this year! Lol! Arif’s colleague randomly suggested mountain climbing and the rest of us were invited by Arif. It was an unplanned, unorganized but surprisingly it turned out quite well.

The four of us took a four hour train ride on Friday evening to a place called Segamat in Johore, Malaysia, got to our resort, did the necessary preparations for the climb and tried to get an early night’s rest. We woke up to have an early breakfast as we hoped to climb up and descend from the mountain before sunset.

Well the first half of the climb was chicken feet until we reached KFC…Unforgettable moments for the day. I climbed almost a vertical cliff, drank mountain water when I ran out of mineral water, got cramps which caused me to slow down the pace of everybody, saved a friend while I was resting, felt like there was somebody following me when I was at the back of the team and most important of all…A priceless moment when I reached the summit with my best friends and got a birthday present from Arif behind a spectacular view.

It was definitely a great experience and I definitely need to train myself to catch up with the army boys. Hehehe. Thanks guys for watching my back and adding flavour to my 25th birthday.

Finally got the time to post about my Tioman Trip. Had lots of fun. Made lots of friends. A little disappointed with the Ferry service at Mersing, hours of wasted waiting waiting. Both on the departure and the arrival date.

Well anyway, the 5 of us (Arif, Khazam, Irman and Irwan and Myself) met up at Kranji MRT station at 9am on Saturday right after my last night shift of my vacation Job and left for Tioman Island, Malaysia. We decided to go by the cheapest traveling means but a traded off time for money. We reached Salang Beach resort at Tioman Island in the evening…

Tioman Island is beautiful. Clear blue waters with nice soft sand on the beach. Lots of nice people too. We didn’t go trekking but we went snorkeling and kayaked for a few hours. Enjoyed the sun and had lots of seafood. Oh yes, I like the Sambal Sotong dish too. Ariffian taught us verbally how to make the Sambal (Chilli Paste) though nothing registered in my head.

We visited the Beach Bar for a “Beach Party” since it was like the talk of the night. Somehow, the beach party wasn’t really what I expected but yet fun. Arif and I kinda bonded with Nick and Mas at the bar. We were just having small talks and yeah it was a fun night.

All in all, it was an unforgettable experience with my friends and I felt like the trip was too short. We managed to give Irman a blanket party. Made lots of noise in the room playing Taboo till our next door neighbor knocked on our room’s door to tell us to shut up! Lol! Wished I could have stayed longer. Got to know 2 Vietnamese-German sisters and an English teacher from Australia and got in touch with the aquatic world.

Too bad Khairil and Iswandi couldn’t join us.

Finally I got to visit the National Museum of Singapore. A must go for Arts lovers! I don’t only mean the drawings! Enjoyed every bit of it. From the Living Galleries to the History Gallery. The History Gallery gives you a personalized experience where you will get to go about with a personal companion the size of an exercise book. Well if you are interested but can’t seem to find the time to visit the museums just follow me and get a sneek peek at the National Museum of Singapore.

First thing I noticed when I stepped into the Museum were enormous pink testicles! A nude statue of Michelangelo was placed at the entrance. I am not sure what it was suppose to mean but it definitely put a smile to lots of people.

I got my complimentary pass, courtesy of NUS, we headed on to the first exhibition which is on the 2nd level. It is an exhibition all about Indians. I felt so much at home. History on all the Indian migrants in Singapore.

Well, I wasn’t bored though most of the things placed up on the wall was already boasted and bragged to me by my older relatives. It’s just captivating to learn about my “own” people from such sources. Took a lot of pictures on this section but will only show a few so that you will not be bored if you actually visit it yourself.

Next we headed to the wonderful flavours of Singapore. All about the history of Singapore’s authentic menu. Learnt about the “Tok Tok Mee” and how bugis became “The Eating Spot” of the past.

Then right after growing our appetites, we headed to a gallery of nostalgia. Well at least thats what I call it. It is just full of all the photos, portraits and furnitures of the Singaporeans in the past. From the geisha girls that were brought to Singapore by the Japanese to pin-hole cameras that were used in the past.

Next we walked into a gallery of Stars. Yes Stars! Once upon a time, Singapore had our own “Hollywood” productions. The time of P.Ramlee where Shaw and Cathay produced the movies and even had a grand studio at Jln Ampas. Learned a lot about the industry and probably enjoyed it most over here. =x Did you know that they had magazines that featured the makings of the movies in the past? Showed how creative the Singaporeans were in the past!

Well then we headed on to the highlights of the National Musuem, The History Galleries. Got ourselves a companion which we will have to use for the tour. We have to take note of the numbers written on the ground and key it into the companion and press GO to learn more about that section of exhibition. Oh yah, did you know that if it is not for Sir Stamford Raffle’s wife, the founder of modern Singapore would have been forgotten? Will not post any other pictures from this exhibition.

You should visit the Museum. You will learn about Singapore’s ancient stone wall to the modern Singapore that Mr Lee Kuan Yew helped to build. Until the next visit to the heart of Singapore, I am Deen Yusoff. Have fun! Lol!

As my interest for knowledge grew, we moved on to the Indian gallery. Honestly, the moment we entered that gallery, we felt peace and calm. Even though they have all kinds of idols there that looked so real. I felt that the South East Asian gallery was rather creepy. So now we learn about the Educators of South East Asians. The Indians are another group of smart ones and they definitely know how to have fun. They made so many board games to kill their time with! And we tried a couple of games as well.

Well that was about it at the museum. We went to have a quick dinner and set off to the Drama Centre to catch “Temple”. I’ve been dieing to catch a theatrical act for a damn long time. Finally I did.

Well all in all the performance was quite good though I felt that the story line was rather messy. The comic relief by the Husband and Wife was the light of the show if you asked me. A Malay husband and a Chinese wife that could only speak their own native tongue living together and can’t stand each other.

**Favourite line for the day but is really just a dumb comedy, “Babi Gemok! Oink! Oink! Kentot! Kentot!”**

Well enjoyed myself though I went home shagged. There are too many pictures to upload and post hear. If you are interested in the things we saw at the museum, you could check my gallery in a couple of days after I upload them up. =x
