Who would have guessed that SMRT’s 188 service would break down when I took the bus back home earlier this evening after school? Well, it happened. :D Somehow I was kinda excited about it. The last time I was in a service that broke down was like more than 5 years ago. It is such a very rare incident!

Felt vey privilege then. Lol! Well actually, all that I could hear was, “Hen Suay lei!”. Pronounced something like this, “Hn Su-way Lay!”. Simply means “Damn Unlucky ‘man’!”. Well anyway, the Bus Captain compensated all of us with a complimentary ride. :D

Complimentary Ticket

The best part is it lasts till 5th of March 2008. Of course there are some limitations to the ticket. Can only be used on SMRT buses and not Express services. :D I am just happy I got this little ticket. I am using season pass so it doesn’t really affect me. It’s either I keep the ticket for a rainy day or give it away to someone who needs it more than I do.

Can’t believe that a service breakdown made my day. Lol! :D

Happily doing my school work at the wonderful forum when there was a sudden blast of Line dance music. Almost blew my brains out…You don’t even know where the crowd came from. It is like a blood rush when you a person gets excited.

Well since I couldn’t concentrate on my work, I decided to snap a pic of the dancers. They weren’t in sync but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Well…guess everything is fun when you do it with a certain group of people. Here’s how they looked like….

Dec 23

Been a while since I posted anything. Well this entry is about what I saw on the 21st of December 2007. A crash right after I saw a speeding biker zoom pass me at the bus stop in front of Sunshine Place.

It was a chase. The traffic police was just behind the biker with his blinker on. I guess, the biker tried to beat the red light and bang! a crash and he fell flat. Wonder what’s with some bikers. They seem to enjoy the adrenalin of being chased by the law enforcers. Is being a rebel cool? Do girls really dig such guys? I rather earn big bucks and drive an Ferrari. I thought women prefer to be safe. You can check out the scene below. I took the picture at the back of 172 bus.

Bike Crash

I guess that should be fatal since his bike seems to be half left. Rest in peace whoever that was.

First and foremost I would like to say that I have nothing against busking. However, I would like to show the world how the ever popular Ngee Ann City of Singapore looks like on a typical Friday evening. Honestly, I always had the thought that begging in Singapore streets is a lucrative “business”.

Well as I walked down the walkway towards Paragon Mall from The Wheelock Place, I realised that air is filled with music. First I came upon the Chinese Musicians. They had nice music and they didn’t put up a pathetic look trying to get sympathy from people and donations off their pockets. So I gave them what I thought they were worth and what my pocket allowed me to. :D

Chinese Buskers

Then while I was still walking down Ngee Ann City’s walkway, just after the Tourist Information Booth, I see 2 more. On was an American Indian Band and the other was a Statue. :D Amazing. Both side by side. The American Indian Band were selling off their music. They weren’t really busking. They were showing off their talent. There were quite a few people that bought their CDs. So who said free perfomances will not profit you in any way?

American Indian American Indian CD Buyer

Well don’t forget the statue, you might think that the American Band was hot stuff but you are wrong! ;D The statue was hot favorite especially to kids. When a kid passes by and looked at him, he waved to them with his pinky finger and they just crowd around him. Lol! Cute. You got to salute to such a man being able to stay on one position without blinking for about 15 mins straight.

Silver Statue

Last picture I have for you is a pianist. He is on a wheelchair doesn’t disturb anyone, blocks the centre of the pathway and looks at everyone that passes by in hope for a few cents from them. I have nothing against him.

Pianist

The last busker I want to talk about is a limbless harmonica player. He sits at the corner of Ngee Ann City just opposite the Meritus Mandarin Hotel. He is the most special one as when I wanted to snap a picture of him, he packed up and threw whatever he was holding. Guess what they are. A cigarette and a McCafe drink.

Hey I have nothing against a smoking beggar that drinks Cappuccino or Latte. But the fact that he behaved that manner aroused me to talk about his suspicious act. Is his busking license real? Is he really poor? What the hell is wrong with him? So I pretended to move away and hide at one corner.

Then I saw him sit on the ground again. Kept all the coins he had in his tupperware, put the empty tupperware back in front of him. Took out an old newspaper, placed them around him and adjusted his shirt to make him look like a retard!

He was practically trying to win sympathy from the passerbys to donate. Holy Crap isn’t it? Strategical move. He can afford to smoke, have a nice drink and all he does is sit on the ground and play the harmonica every weekends. I couldn’t snap a photo of him as I was just using my w810i phone. At night, the pictures cant come out clear unless I am directly in front of him and on Night Mode. Just like how I did with the other friendly buskers.

That’s why I choose who to donate my money to. Not just any other pathetic looking people. My advice, only donate to those you think are worth your money. Singapore is definitely a beggar’s paradise as most Singaporeans get emotional easily and feel for the others. But I don’t think we should help them in this sense.

What’s the latest tabloid in Singapore? 3 White British Tourists “bullying” an old trishaw driver. Honestly, this is the mildest bullying act I’ve ever seen. These guys probably were just having some fun and got a little carried away. Their only mistake was to have it recorded and uploaded it on YouTube. You can watch the video now at this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB_GoQ-h9Zg.

Get In Gear Pay you 5 bucks

Mr Lee, the old trishaw driver, didn’t even know he was mocked and had long forgotten about the incident and took it as one of his bad days. Honestly, there are thousands of old people in Singapore that are living a bad life just waiting for their time to return to “Neverland”. Why aren’t there anyone helping these old people before? Mr Lee received free publicity stunt without him knowing. A blessing in disguise? Now more tourists that knows about Mr Lee, might queue up and take his trishaw just to see who he is. Mr Lee is a celebritiy!

Celebrity

Now the guy that reposted his video of shame had even started a donation drive just for Mr Lee. Check his blog at http://helpmrlee.blogspot.com/

I was like thinking…WTF! Get a life. Is he the only one suffering? He is earning an honest living. DON’T TURN HIM INTO A BEGGAR! PLEASE! He can even get a job at McDonalds if he thinks that the trishaw business suck. Obviously he likes getting big tips once in a while. Oh yah, maybe Singapore’s Government can boost up the public assistance grant of S$290/mth to like S$500/mth (and increase the taxes to cover that extra cost?). That might be sufficient for them so that they would not need to work. But they’ll probably still be bored to death and look for something beneficial to do….

Anyway, Bo Davis, the guy who recorded the whole incident I think, said that Singapore is just making it a big issue because they are White men. What the hell?! It would be the same reaction if I uploaded my stupid acts online too. It’s just a matter of time before people get to it.

“Mr Bo Davis, did you forget that you had it screened on YouTube??? Can’t believe you are so full of yourself!”

“I know you were just having fun, but hey couldn’t you please be a little apologetic about the whole issue? Definitely, you are insensitive just like you said.”

Boon Lay Interchange Taxi Stand?Boon Lay Interchange Taxi Stand 3?Boon Lay Interchange Taxi Stand 2?

Look at the pictures above. I can’t help but to take them. What do they look like to you? A Taxi (Cab) Stand or a Bicycle stand?? :D For the love of GOD!. I can’t believe it. It had been so long since I visited Boon Lay Bus Interchange and when I finally did so, I get this feeling that I am not in Singapore.

I am not sure who is in charge of the Bus Interchange, but whoever is in charge could have done something about this. Since there are so many people taking bicycles to the bus interchange, why don’t they make an official bicycle park? Can’t they make the place look cleaner and nicer? I know it is already a mess over at Boon Lay with all the construction work to upgrade the largest Mall in the west of Singapore (Jurong Point). But that doesn’t mean you should leave things to blend in with the mess!!! So much of being clean and green Singapore. YOU MISSED A SPOT!

No Arms, No Deals, With the JUNTA!

Those were the exact words I saw on a board on the 15th of October 2007 just outside the Singapore’s very own White House :) , The Istana. A one man demonstration against something that I didn’t know about! I was so curious what it was so…just like a typical Computing Student, I googled it. :D Yeah!

Found out some interesting topics on Junta. Wikipedia has a few reference on it. But that didnt answer my question, what is Singapore’s connection with the JUNTA. Who the hell are they and what did our government do wrong? So I continued to google it and found some interesting topics that’s already discussed online. Apparently the Junta refered here are Myanmar’s Miltants.

I read a few posts online and would like to highlight 3 of them.
The online citizen: http://theonlinecitizen.com/2007/09/29/singapores-debt-of-honour/
Singapore Kopi Talk: http://singaporekopitok.blogspot.com/
The Abitsu: http://www.abitsu.org/?p=300

All the sites above makes Singapore’s Goverment look bad. But sometimes I feel that most people out there just like to complain about their government. They are simply never happy with what they have. Singapore Kopi Talk mentioned Singapore’s Government are having mixed thoughts. I say Singapore’s Government are trying their best to help.

Everyone keeps saying that providing arms and ammunition to Myanmar is what caused their people to be living in poverty. Are you guys listening to yourselves??? Imagine Myanmar not having anything to protect themselves. Then every other country who claims to be of Super Power will INVADE them for their resources! What Singapore has done is good. But what the Myanmar Juntas are doing is abusing power and authority.

Singapore does business and of course hope that there won’t be blood shed. What do you want Singapore to do? Invade Myanmar and try to restore the country? Like how United Stated did to Iraq? Finally Singaporeans get to see some real action right? Arresting the SDP for their demonstration is to maintain the Peace that we are enjoying right now in Singapore. “SDP” is another political party, they’ll always try to make “PAP”, the ruling political party, look bad.

We shouldn’t confuse ourselves with comments and critics by the opposition. We should think for a bit in a different perspective. Imagine this. A stationary sells pen-knives to teenagers. These teenagers use these pen-knives to hurt themselves, making “beautiful” scars on their wrists, arms and legs and sometimes even commit suicide.

So are the stationary shops to blame for the crazy things these teenagers do? Think about it. Can we prevent the teenagers from abusing themselves if the Shops stops selling the pen-knives to them? Same goes here. Can Singapore stop the Junta’s from abusing their people?

I am so happy say that as cocky as Singapore is said to be, the country is at least in GOOD hands. I stress on the good part because PM Lee Hsien Loong concluded that Section 377A is to stay. Yippee!

Ok, I know what you are thinking, of course I support his stand since I am a straight and I am a Moslem. But besides those facts about myself, Singapore can’t afford to have an increase of Homosexual relationships. Singapore is and aging population and need more babies!!! Its a fact! No new babies, means less population and if the idea spreads to the whole region, slowly the world will be wiped out!

If homosexuality is going to take over Singapore, the only way for Singapore to grow is by cloning. And that will be another issue in the future. I really wonder why some people just want to go against the course of nature. BANG BALLS! Yikes.

So to avoid all those that might be happening in the future, dear PM Lee Hsien Loong did the right thing and announced his conclusion in the most ethical manner. :D
